well i have been looking up methods to this and i came across a few. if the rooster is still like 10-16 weeks old and still a chick you can take toenail trimmers and cut it off. it will bleed a little bit but putting some flour on it will stop the bleeding. this can also be done by a vet. if the rooster is full grow then cook a potato for 8-10 miniutes untill its done, cut it in half and put the roosters spurs through the sliced poato for about 1-2 miniutes. the hot and humidness the potato makes will soften the hard boney spur and then you takw a pair of pliers and twist it right off. there will be a soft spur underneath. another way is taking it to your vet where the rooster will be knocked out and the bone is then removed by a bone saw. but then the rooster has to get stiches and the area has to be kept clean which is kinda hard considering its a chicken. i have 30 chickens 4 roosters and they are about 6 weeks old and i just got done snipping off the spurs. you can also just snip the tips off with like dog toe nail trimmers so the rooster still has a spur for protecting his hens from racoons and what not. but just becareful of the soft spur underneath because it will bleeed like crazy and chickens peck at red AKA blood.
